Thane to be country’s first city to get resilience plan

THANE:  Thane will become the first local in the country to have a city resilience plan that will contribute towards citizen’s happiness by this Diwali. The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has joined hands with Rockefeller Foundation, Singapore to draft this plan for the city so that it is better prepared to deal with all kinds of crisis in future.

TMC said, it’s commitment to improve the happiness index of its citizens is extremely important while announcing  its Budget for 2018-19. It further added  only a healthy, strong city can be truly happy which does not get fazed by any kind of challenges. Hence, the corporation decided to join hands with Rockefeller Foundation (RFS) to design a city resilience framework (CSF) for Thane.

Sandip Malvi ,Deputy Municipal Commissioner, TMC, said on the occasion that we met Henry Blas, the company’s Asia-Pacific head and Saurabh Gaidhani, the regional head for Asia. They are crafting the CSF for over 100 cities in the world and would also assist us in the same.

The prominent parameters to feature in CSF include health, employment, infrastructure, transport, disaster management, water supply, etc. The draft of the index would be out within two months.
