THANE: The Thane-Borivli twin road tunnel project has made headway with Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) proposing to de-reserve around 34 hectares (ha) of land within its bounds for the project in the coming days.
Around 8.4 ha in Majiwada-Manpada administrative ward was required for access to the Thane-Borivli road, a survey reported. This proposal for changing the current reservation on the lands has been moved before the TMC, officials said. They further added that a majority of the land is currently reserved for a botanical and zoological park, Thane Transport Depot, and a road development plan. These places will need to be altered to suit the project.
