HYDERABAD, Telangana: Three urban local bodies (ULBs) from Telangana, Alampur Municipality, Peerzadiguda Municipal Corporation and Korutla Municipality, have bagged the awards under the Indian Swachhata League (ISL). The awards will be conferred in a two-day event which will take place in Delhi during September 29 -30.
Earlier, the Government of Telangana declared that 16 civic bodies in the state are selected for the Swachhta Survekshan 2022 Awards. Additionally, the state has also won 13 other awards in the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin.
The representatives of the three ULBs will receive the awards during an event titled Swachh Shehar Samvad & Tech Exhibition, which will take place in Delhi during September 29-30.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, organises various national level sanitation challenges like Swachh Survekshan, Garbage Free City (GFC) Star Rating and Indian Sanitation League (ISL). These challenges are aimed at overall sanitation, municipal and solid waste management, involving the youth in garbage cleaning and enhancing citizen awareness across all the 4.355 cities and towns in India.
Apart from these 19 wards, Telangana has also achieved around 40 Open Defecation Free (ODF) certificates that help ULBs in securing better ranking in the national level Swachh Survekshan. The credit for bagging these awards is being given to the effective implementation of the Pattana Pragathi programme run by the state government. Till now, the state government has implemented four editions of this programme, and this year it was taken from March 3 to June 18.
