The government on 24th October approved the biggest highway construction plan so far in the country. The project would develop approximately 83,677 km of roads at an investment of Rs 6.92 lakh crore by 2022. The project is aimed at pushing economic activity across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at a public meeting in Udaipur that India cannot afford a delay in the modernization of its infrastructure in order to sustain widespread growth and development. He said that in order to grow further, the infrastructure has to be developed or else it would act as a barrier to prosperity.
