KOZHIKODE: Speaking at the Santhwana Sparsham Adalat on February 2, held at the Town Hall in Vatakara, K T Jaleel, Minister for Higher Education, Government of Kerala, assured the attendees that the state government is giving priority to development works and social welfare in equal measure. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, had announced earlier that ministers from his cabinet will be touring the state from February 1, to conduct adalats in order to address the grievances of the public. The adalats have been named ‘Santhwana Sparsham’, which will be held in 14 districts across the state.

People raised issues of financial help for reconstruction of house, lack of piped water connection, ration cards, application for homes under the LIFE Mission at the Adalat held in Vatakara. Jaleel established at the adalat that around 60.31 lakh people are receiving welfare pension at home and the distribution of the food kits, which was started when the COVID-19 pandemic had broken out last year, is still being continued.

He conveyed to the mass that many development projects, which were earlier tagged as not feasible, are being implemented at present by the state government. He added that roads in every nook and corner of the state are being rubberized by the Public Works Department.

This adalat provides facility for the people to submit their complaints online or through Akshaya centres, neither of which charge an application fee. At the first Santhwana Sparshan held in Kerala in Koyilandy Town Hall, AK Saseendran, Transport Minister, said that the grievances not settled at the adalat would be sent for consideration at a committee formed at the state-level.
