IMPHAL, Manipur: Solar power-based equipment, installed in collaboration with Solar Electric Light Company (SELCO), are ensuring uninterrupted functioning of healthcare facilities in the state of Manipur.
Solar power solutions have been allowing healthcare institutions to continue their operations, even during power outage. For instance, a baby was delivered during a power outage due to heavy rain, at the Sajik Tampak Primary Health Sub Centre (PHSC) in the Chandel district.
These solar energy based equipment aims to provide a 24/7 uninterrupted supply of electricity to 68 Health Centres in three districts Chandel, Churachandpur and Tamenglong. The Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh on Thursday, June 23, virtually inaugurated three new solar power solutions, which will cater to the needs of healthcare facilities in the aforementioned districts.
Additionally, the solar power apparatus includes a radiant warmer, suction apparatus, spotlight, solar direct drive vaccine refrigerator and luminaries. The programme is one of the programmes under the ‘100 Action Points for 100 days’ of the Government of Manipur.
