SURAT: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will install 3,148 CCTV cameras in Surat for 24*7 surveillance of its facilities. The work is implemented under the Suman Eye Project and is expected to cost Rs 14 crore.
The CCTV cameras will help SMC to monitor BRTS, schools, water distribution facilities and its other services. The cameras will be set up in three phases over time period of three months.
CY Bhatt, Deputy Commissioner SMC said that the tender for the project has been floated and the work is expected to complete within 9-10 months. He said that there will be zone wise control room set up from where activities could be monitored.
The CCTV cameras will be set up at all BRTS bus stops, education facilities run by SMC, water treatment and supply facilities in the city, and public spaces like gardens and lakes. All cameras will be linked to integrated command and control centre.
