PUNE: KPIT Technologies Research and Development labs, Sentient labs has revealed India’s first indigenously developed Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus. This Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology has been improvised in collaboration with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) and Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI).

Sentient Lab’s aim is to build technology solutions to facilitate sustainable mobility with a subsequent emphasis on hydrogen-powered technologies. Sentient has announced the world’s first technology that gives out hydrogen directly from agricultural residue for use in fuel cell-powered vehicles. Besides the hydrogen fuel, Sentient Labs also improvised other key components such as the balance of plant, power train, and battery pack. This hydrogen fuel cell will be utilized for generating electricity, which will further be used to power the bus.  The only effluent that the bus would emit would be water making it the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation.

“Across the world, efforts are being made to move towards becoming green and Sentient Labs stand out in this revolution. The challenges faced by the labs were understood and solutions were devised for the same. Decentralization and decarbonization are what will make India grow sustainably,” said Dr Raghunath Mashlkar, Member of Board of Directors, Sentient Labs.
