HYDERABAD: T Harish Rao, Minister of Finance, Government of Telangana, presented a Rs 2.56 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2022-23, which is up from last year’s budget of Rs 2.31 lakh crore. The budget has revenue expenditure of Rs 1.89 lakh crore and capital expenditure of Rs 29.728 lakh crores. The Finance Minister said that the budget is a ‘KCR-mark budget’ dedicated to the poor and farmers of the state.
The per capita income of the state during 2021-22 was Rs 2,78,833. Rao said that Telangana has topped amongst all southern states in terms of growth and per capita income. The IT exports from Telangana noted an increase of 12.8 per cent in 2021-22.
The state has given primacy to development schemes and agriculture. Dalita Bandhu, flagship welfare scheme for the backward sections of the society, received allocation of Rs 17,000 crore in comparison to Rs 1000 crore in the last year’s budget. It was also announced that agricultural loans of farmers up to Rs 50,000 will be waived off before this month’s end.
Rs 1000 crore has been allocated in the budget for setting up of government medical structure to strengthening the public health infrastructure and medical education. Rs 1394 crores have been allocated for urban development.
