Ranchi to begin work on smart city projects from Feb 22

RANCHI: Ranchi Smart City Projects worth Rs 10,500 crore is likely to begin by the end of this month after Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Jharkhand will lay the foundation of projects that include transportation, power and water supply systems on February 22.

Ashish Singhmar, CEO of Ranchi Smart City Corporation Ltd. said that all the components for infrastructure development work of the area based development (ABD) under the smart city project had finally been cleared. The foundation of this project was laid by M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-president of India, on September 9, 2017. Apart from the ABD component, the Ranchi Smart City Project, has few projects under pan-city development.

The infrastructure development includes road and transport system, waste water management, storm water drainage, plantations, smart street lighting, power infrastructure and water supply systems covering the entire area of 656.30 acre at an estimated cost of Rs 514 crore in Dhurwa-Jagannathpur, said Singhmar.

Pan-city development comprises model roads and integrated traffic and transport systems with all aspects brought under one umbrella through the use of ICT (Information-Communication-Technology).

Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Juidco) is the executing agency of the project. Juidco would finalise tenders soon so that work, on the ABD component could begin immediately.
