As the counting of votes for the Presidential elections was completed today, Ram Nath Kovind has been elected as the 14th President of India. Ram Nath Kovind was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Governor of Bihar. He was the NDA nominee for the 2017 Presidential elections. Kovind won by a majority of 65.6 per cent votes translating into 7,02,044 electoral college votes.
In India, the President is elected by an electoral college comprising of all the members of Parliament and legislative assemblies of states and union territories.
