Rajasthan at second spot in centre’s Smart City Mission rankings

JAIPUR: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, published the ranking for Smart City Mission on Monday, May 17. Rajasthan climbed 27 ranks to achieve the second spot on the list among 36 states and union territories as it implemented some of the largest number of projects under the Smart City Mission.

An official said that the rankings are based on different parameters including completion of the Smart City Mission projects, cumulative value of the tenders issued, work completed and utilisation of funds, etc. The overall score of the state was 35.61 points as the four cities from the state namely Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Jaipur were included in the ranking of top 100 cities. Shanti Dhariwal, Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Government of Rajasthan, said that the state has so far received Rs 1845 crore under the Smart City Mission so far and out of this, Rs 1563 crore have been spent on various projects in the smart cities.

Dhariwal added that an action plan was prepared for the time-bound implementation of works and was effectively monitored. He also said that in Jaipur, the government will utilise Rs 150 crore to develop Gangauri Hospital, and SMS Hospital and Medical College, which will be extremely beneficial for the people.
