CHANDIGARH: In order to promote renewable gas in Punjab, Invest Punjab- Business first world portal on Monday, November 22, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Punjab state Office-Renewable Gas Association of India (PSO-RGAI).

RGAI has been set up to offer expertise and guidance to society to improvise the best solutions for maximizing renewable gas production and usage. This will encourage green and sustainable growth. The organisation will encourage renewable gas produced from all feedstocks, using competing and sustainable technologies for all end-use applications, said Mahinder Singh, General Secretary, RGAI. This will help us to amp up the potential primarily due to the abundance of unutilized agriculture feedstock, Singh added.

Moreover, Ashish Kumar, Managing Director, VERBIO India Pvt Ltd, said that renewable gas could emerge as one of the most promising industrial sectors with sustainable and all-inclusive growth for Punjab. Around an annual surplus volume of 20-25 million tons of agriculture residue, most of which is burnt, leads to 31 metric million tonnes of Green House gas emissions in a span of fewer than 75 days.
