CHANDIGARH: In a bid to install sound electric mobility in the state, Punjab government has partnered with World Economic Forum (WEF) to design a public-private pilot for shared electric mobility. Under the initiative, public and private stakeholders of the state would work together to develop a sound EV ecosystem in the state.

The aim would be to formulate a blueprint for the implementation of EVs in the cities in Punjab. The state is already working on the formulation of a new EV model for the state. Beginning their shift to e-mobility, Punjab has already banned the new registration of diesel/petrol three-wheelers in five districts of Ludhiana, Amritsar, Mohali, Jalandhar and Fatehgarh Sahib. Punjab is also moving towards the installation of EV/Battery units in Dhanusu village of Ludhiana. The plant is to be set up in an area of over 380 acres.

To further the promotion of the e-mobility model, the state government will also be adopting other incentives to EVs, in the form of green number plates and green corridor.
