Pune gears up for managing post-COVID issues in patients

PUNE: In a bid to provide holistic health guidance to people who have recovered from COVID-19 infections, Pune division intends to open post-COVID-19 management counselling facilities in the city. According to a report, more than 2.30 lakh patients have been discharged after recovering from COVID-19 in Pune and around 10-12 per cent of them are experiencing psychological problems, require physiotherapy, are suffering from fibrosis or neuro-muscular problems or the side effects of medicines.

Saurabh Rao, Divisional Commissioner, Pune, said, “The administration has prepared the post- COVID management plan for Pune division. After getting cured, citizens are emerging with various health issues and some are facing psychological problems. To address all these issues with the help of medical experts, the administration of a task force is now in place. One team travelled to Cuttack in Orissa to study the post- COVID management issues.”

The counselling centres will be available in jumbo care facilities, Sassoon Hospital, Naidu hospital and COVID hospital in Baner. Doctors selected by the administration will be handling the centres and will start the training from next week.
