NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has ordered the Government of NCT of Delhi to furnish the details of all town vending committees (TVCs) which are set up in the capital under the Street Vendors Act.
The court directed the Delhi government to provide all the relevant details on the constitution of all TVCs in Delhi including nomination of members, particularly under the categories of non-governmental organisation, bank/associations of street vendors, community-based organisations, resident welfare associations, and market or trade associations. The bench comprising of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Jasmeet Singh said that the members of petitioner associations, including New Delhi trader Association, Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal and a counsel representing the interest of hawkers/vendors, can inspect the records.
The court ordered that the records of the constitution of all TVCs under the New Delhi Municipal Council and three municipal corporations should be made available to the office of urban development department at ITO.
