President Droupadi Murmu attends event organised by Dharwad Corporation

HUBLI: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended a felicitation ceremony, which was organised by the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation on Monday, September 26, under the title ‘Poura Sanmana’.

Following her felicitation, the President addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude to all the residents. She said that her felicitation stands for the felicitation of all the daughters of India. 

The President said that the Hubli-Dharwad is part of the glorious history of Karnataka, as well as of India. She added that the region of north Karnataka is home to some well-known education centres working in the fields like medical, engineering, law, science, arts and technology. For this reason, the region is called ‘Vidya-Kashi’.

After this event, the President inaugurated the new campus of the Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad (IIIT – Dharwad). Later, she addressed the gathering where she praised the role of IIIT – Dharwad in helping the nation to prepare for the future through education.

She highlighted that ‘Gyan Vikas’, the tagline of IIIT-Dharwad, defines that knowledge and development go hand in hand. Therefore, it is essential to provide technical education to youth in our country so they can contribute to achieving India’s developmental goals.  

The President said that India is undergoing a digital revolution, and if we want to take full advantage of this revolution, we have to promote research and innovation in our country.
