Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship to be held on July 11

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, to organise Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela, on July 11, at over 200 locations in the country, as part of Prime Minister Skill India Mission, aimed to boost employment opportunities in India.

It is a one-day event in which more than 1000 companies, 500 distinct trades and 36 industries will take part in Mela. Till now, 1,88,410 applicants have participated in the Mela, and nearly 67,035 apprenticeship offers have already been made.

Candidates are provided with an opportunity to earn a certificate recognised by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), and enhance their employability through training. On the other hand, participating companies will also have the opportunity to hire their desired talent on the spot that too from a single platform.

Applicants must have completed 5-12th grade, they should possess a skill training certificate, ITI diploma or graduate degree to become eligible to take part in the National Apprenticeship Mela. Selected individuals will also receive a monthly stipend as per the norms set by the Centre for attaining new skills, which will allow them to earn a decent income during the apprenticeship period.

Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, said about the National Apprenticeship Mela, “We hope that the Apprenticeship Mela will provide additional job opportunities for talented individuals across the country. While the primary purpose of these programmes is to recruit more apprentices, it is important to note that apprenticeships such as these are necessary for practical training, which is what we are striving for here. This has had a significant impact, as seen by the expanding number of apprenticeships and their successful execution across the country.”
