SONEPAT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the city gas distribution (CGD) projects in 63 geographical areas (GAs) across India, including five in Haryana, from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on November 22, 2018.
Dulip Patnaik, Executive Director, Hindustan Petroleum, said that the CGD authorisation had so far been given for 92 GAs covering 129 districts, spread over 23 states and Union Territories, heralding the availability of convenient and environment-friendly natural gas for millions of residents.
He further said, “These cover about 20 per cent of India’s population (as per 2011 census) and 11 per cent of its geographical area.” He claimed that with the completion of this ninth CGD bidding round, natural gas would be available in 178 GAs comprising 290 districts.
He further explained that the commencement of work for the GAs was awarded by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board and the natural gas could be used in the CGD sector in four distinct segments including as auto fuel, in domestic households, commercial and Industrial segments.
