AURANGABAD: Residents of Aurangabad can now have a freshly brewed tea in exchange for plastic waste at the Taka Tak Chai wala stall in Vithal Nagar. In exchange for three PET bottles, the TakaTak chai wale provides a cup of tea. The tea stall uses biofuel to prepare the orders. The organic waste collected by the sanitation workers of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is used to produce gas from a bio gas station at the sorting center.
The initiative began under the campaign ‘Majhi City Swachh City’ initiated by AMC and is run by the Centre for Applied Research and People’s Engagement (CARPE), a CSR outreach program of Bajaj Auto. Earlier the tea stall was open to the sanitation workers of zone 6, but now it is open to all the residents who wish to visit and want to learn about plastic waste management.
The aim of the initiative is to create awareness about plastic and food waste management among citizens. This facility has been built on the border of Ram Nagar and Vithal Nagar wards with the cooperation of the corporators Manoj Gangwe and Bapu Ghadamode.
