PepsiCo India achieves 100% PET recycling milestone in Maharashtra, organises ‘Nagpur Cleanathon’

NAGPUR: PepsiCo India today announced the milestone of achieving 100 per cent PET collection and recycling for the State of Maharashtra, as a part of its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). The program also focused on the existent informal collection network involving more than 10,000 waste-pickers. PepsiCo India worked in collaboration with GEM Enviro Management to set up 100 collection points across 36 districts of Maharashtra. This was done for the effective recycling of used PET bottles. ‘Nagpur Cleanathon’ was organised by PepsiCo India and GEM Enviro Management at Ambazari lake garden, in order to celebrate this achievement, in the presence of senior officials from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).  

Nanda Jichkar, Mayor of Nagpur city, Ram Joshi, Additional Municipal Commissioner, NMC; Hema Deshpande, SRO, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB); Sachin Sharma, Director, GEM Enviro and Juhi Gupta, Head Sustainability, PepsiCO India participated in the ‘Nagpur Cleanathon’ cleaning drive. In addition to this, 100 volunteers, college students and professors also participated in the drive.
