PANCHKULA: The civic body has decided to recast 56 parks with one or more acre of land along with various facilities including fitness equipment and play areas for the children. Mayor of Panchkula Kulbushan Goyal further informed that these parks will have a water body with numerous other modalities.
Besides this, the park will have hard surface tracks for walking and jogging and two badminton courts; play area for kids and an open-air gym will also be a part of these parks. Sector 6 and 20 has been earmarked for the first phase of renovation to be done. The horticulture and engineering wings have already been assigned with their respective works. Goyal further informed that the special focus will remain on the fitness and play sphere along with beautifying the parks. There are a total of 276 parks in Panchkula with 241 under the jurisdiction of Park Development Societies and Municipal Corporation pays Rs 5 per square meter for land above 1 acre and Rs 4 per square meter to the PDS.
