BHUBANESWAR, Odisha: The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik announced the formation of 22 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) in 13 districts of Odisha and upgraded Bhanjanagar NAC into a municipality.
The new NACs in will function in Boudh, Bolangir, Bargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Sambalpur and Subarnapur districts of the state.
The officials have mentioned that the NACs were created in view of the rising population in the area, socioeconomic development and the demands of the local people.
Patnaik mentioned that the newly constituted NACs and the municipality would work for the overall development of the areas.
