NEW DELHI: Four cities of north India are facing its worst heat wave ever. Starting from the national capital, Churu in Rajasthan, Banda and Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh have seen temperatures 48°Cand above.

Churu has crossed 50°C twice in the last week, which is 8 degrees higher than the normal temperature at this time of year. Banda is at 49.2°C and Allahabad 48.9°C. On June 10, 2019, the temperature of Delhi reached 48 degrees.

Scientists say that this is result of climate change which is happening worldwide and is likely to become more frequent. Environmental activists have suggested that India must have a comprehensive plan to deal with the heat waves that are costing hundreds of lives every year. On June 11, 2019, four people died while travelling in the Kerala Express. As per a railways official, heat is a suspected factor behind deaths
