NEW DELHI: The standing committee has passed a motion on March 5, 2019 that the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) will be implementing the Centre’s Ayushman Bharath Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yogana in its hospitals.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the NDMC and the National Health Authority (NHA) to implement the scheme in North civic body’s hospitals. The proposal stated that the scheme will be implemented at all hospitals and 10-bed health units under the health department of the NDMC.
The standing committee in a separate resolution stated that the scheme will be allowed in its six hospitals and the beneficiaries will be bonafide residents of the city who are included in the 2010 economic survey. Further it said that if the patient cannot be treated at the civic body’s hospitals, then they will be allowed to seek treatment from 18 private empaneled hospitals in the city under the scheme.
The Ayushman scheme will focus on underprivileged, destitute, manual scavengers, primitive tribal group, legally released bonded laborers and others having an income of ₹10,000 per month or less.
