NAVI MUMBAI: With heavy rains lashing the state for a week, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) dispatched relief and medical teams to the affected areas. Heavy rains resulted in flood-like conditions at various spots along the Konkan coast and other parts of western Maharashtra.
Abhijit Bangar, Commissioner, NMMC assigned two teams of volunteers and 65 officers for the Mahad area and a team of 40 volunteers for the Kolhapur area, which will be working towards cleaning and disinfecting the areas using sodium hypochlorite disinfectants. The relief teams also comprise of medical and paramedical staff for conducting health checkups at Chiplun area. The teams will be fully equipped with essential items. JCB machines, four tankers, and dumpers have also been sent to these areas.
Relief teams will also be disposing off the dead bodies of animals that died due to heavy rains and provide medical treatment to the people who were affected.
