MYSURU, Karnataka: The city of Mysuru is expanding and all the construction waste has been dumped on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) which the local authorities have turned a blind eye to this issue.
Pratap Simha, the Member of Parliament from Mysuru, has instructed the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), and the local bodies to clean up the 42-kilometer stretch of the ORR.
Simha held a meeting with the representatives of MCC, MUDA, and the concerned civic bodies and it was decided that cleaning work from Nanjangud Junction to T Narasipura Junction and JP Nagar Underpass Junction would be taken up by Kadakola town panchayat, T Narasipura Junction to Bengaluru Junction by MCC, Bengaluru Junction to KRS Road Junction jointly by MUDA and Mysuru taluk panchayat, KRS Road Junction to Vijayanagar 4th Stage by Bogadi town panchayat and Aditya Circle to JP Nagar Junction by Srirampura town panchayat.
During the meeting, Simha hinted that local bodies will soon be made accountable for keeping the ORR and its surroundings clean, and for preventing indiscriminate dumping of waste and disposal of wastes within their jurisdiction. A debris recycling plant near Sathagalli was also discussed since the construction and demolition waste is being dumped along the ORR.
The ORR is like a gateway to the city and garbage and debris dumped along the road create a bad impression of the city. The service roads of the ORR are also being used as dumping grounds for waste from the residential and commercial properties that have been built beyond the ORR.
