MUMBAI: The Central Railway decided to stop charging Rps 1 for the urinals present on station premises. Passengers are exempt from the fee only at the new public toilets, which are still under construction.

Toilets constructed by contractors will continue to charge urinal fee until their contracts gets over, Arvind Sawant, Shiv Sena MP, took this decision during a meeting with Members of Parliament to discuss passenger issues.

Sawant also demanded toilets inside women’s compartments. A demand for women’s special local trains during morning and evening peak hours from Badlapur railway station was also tabled in front of the railway officials. “The local trains during the morning and evening peak hours are extremely crowded, and women commuters are often not able to board train compartments. I have stated that women’s special trains should be operated from Badlapur railway station,” said Kapil Patil, member of legislative council (MLC).
