PUNE: Pune Municipal corporation launched mobile dispensaries to improve the health services and medical reach in the city on April 1.  The initiative has been launched in association with Force Motors and Bhartiya Jain Sanghatana. Muridhar Mohol, Mayor, Pune said 15 mobile dispensaries have been deployed for public, each dispensary will have a medical team to check patients and prescribe medication. The doctors at the mobile dispensary are not allowed any home visits. Medicines will be given free of cost.

Shekhar Gaikwad, Municipal Commissioner, PMC said this service will be helpful for all the citizens and can help identify patients infected with coronavirus. “If the patients have symptoms of the infection, then the person will be referred for a laboratory test and will be quarantined till we have the report. If found infected, they would be hospitalised for treatment,” said Gaikwad.

The idea came into play after few dispensaries have shut down due to lockdown and residents are not able to visit their family doctors. The mobile dispensary will be useful to conduct medical check-ups of senior citizens and those in old age homes.  The mobile dispensaries will announce their arrival through public address system while visiting a certain area. The citizens are encouraged to follow social distancing while visiting the dispensaries.
