Metro station to have electric vehicle charging facilities

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) along with its partners announced that they would soon offer electric vehicle charging facilities at all of its metro stations starting with Miyapur.

The first electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Hyderabad is being built by Power Grid Corporation of India and the estimated cost of each charging station is about 25 Lakh.

Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy of Power Grid Corporation of India said “We are starting with Miyapur, will keep scaling it up to all stations. It will take about 45 minutes to charge a car and three hours to charge a scooter”.

At Miyarpur Metro parking three charging units will be set up and they will be up and running in next 15 Days, following which other metro stations will be covered in several stages.

Telangana will unveil EV policy on June 29, and it will be based on the framework of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electrical Vehicles in India (FAME-INDIA) provided by Union Government.
