NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister, Government of Delhi, launched a mega campaign against pollution on Monday, October 5. In view of COVID-19, the program is named, “Yudh Pradushan ke Virudh”. A separate plan for all 13 pollution hotspots of the city has been made to fight with the problem of pollution at its root.
Kejriwal said that the customised plans are prepared for each of the area considering their causes of pollution and respective criteria of executing the plan further. According to him, a “war room” is planned to examine all the anti-pollution measures of the government. Delhi government is also planning for a mobile application named “Green Delhi”. This application can be used to complain against any pollution-causing activity being carried out around the city.
Kejriwal also said that the photo based mobile application will be launched by the end of this month. It will be used to take action against pollution causing activities reported by the citizens of Delhi. He has also directed the authorities to fill the potholes of the city to curb dust pollution which is a vital contributor to air pollution.
Stubble burning in areas around Delhi is another major cause of Delhi’s air pollution, he added. Addressing this issue, he said that the scientists at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) have made an economical plan to deal with the problem of stubble burning. They have come up with a solution to turn the stubble into manure for soil. This will be produced at a large scale in Delhi and will be distrubuted to other states after its testing is successful in Delhi, Kejriwal added.
