NEW DELHI: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a citywide comprehensive cleanliness campaign in the national capital on Saturday, August 12. Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has expressed his confidence in the campaign to improve overall cleanliness in Delhi.

The drive initially began in one of the municipal wards and was later extended to all 250 wards in Delhi.

CM Kejriwal conveyed his best wishes for the cleanliness campaign started by the Delhi civic body through a post on X. He said that he firmly believes that putting effort into this cleanliness drive would yield great success.

Later on the second day of the cleanliness drive, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi informed that the urban local body (ULB) has deployed around 3,000 sanitation employees for the entire exercise. She added, “Delhi would be transformed into a clean and tidy city like London and New York.” She also asked the people to submit their waste management related complaints on the mobile app called MCD 311.

As part of the cleanliness exercise, MCD has formed teams. Each team will inspect 50 lanes and take pictures, to be uploaded on MCD 311 mobile app to help ULB take appropriate measures.

Mukesh Goyal, MCD councillor and leader of the House said, “People are being made aware of hygiene and its importance. This campaign won’t stop until Delhi is garbage-free.”
