AYODHYA: The members of the All-India Mayors’ Council have assembled in Ayodhya to participate in a two-day conference on urban development issues. Ashutosh Tandon, Minister of Urban Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated the event, and said that the development of urban areas had been a priority since the time of the Indus Valley Civilisation.
About 30 mayors from across the nation had assembled to attend the event. Tandon said that presently, India has projects like Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT, where a number of urban development projects are in implementation process. He said that under the Smart Cities Mission, the state of Uttar Pradesh is striving to change the face of its cities by strengthening urban infrastructure. The state is focusing on improving sanitation, drainage, water supply, electricity, and health infrastructure.
