Maharashtra reduced cost of RT-PCR Test in the state

MUMBAI: The Government of Maharashtra has reduced the cost of testing for coronavirus infection using the RT-PCR test by upto 18 per cent. In an order released on Monday, October 26, the state government said that the prices have been reduced in order to encourage testing.

The cost of sample collection from designated sites, transportation and generating a report has been reduced from Rs 1,200 to Rs 980. On the other hand, the cost of test samples collected from kiosks, quarantine centres, hospitals, clinics and COVID-19 care centres has been reduced from Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,400. Similarly, the cost of collecting samples for the RT-PCR test from home has been reduced to Rs 1,800 from Rs 2,000.

The government said that the state has been testing 70,000 people per million population and efforts are being undertaken to significantly increase the numbers.
