MADURAI: In a bid to keep a check on health of sanitary workers amid coronavirus spread, the Madurai Corporation has started conducting free health camps for all workers involved in COVID-19 prevention activities. On April 7, Sellur K Raju, Minister for Cooperatives, inspected a health camp at Sathamangalam Urban Primary health center to check the work of corporation.
Mr Raju said that the government is taking all measures to ensure safety of all citizens and to stop further spread of virus. He also said that around 60,000 masks have been distributed already to the workers in Madurai West Assembly constituency.
The health checks in the camps include body temperature, blood tests and blood pressure among other tests. The workers are also being given health supplements to ensure nutritional levels as they are working round the clock.
The civic body is conducting health check-ups for all its 5,300 workers at its primary health centers across the city.
