LUDHIANA: Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) has planned to install GPS tracker in all its vehicles to keep track of their movement. In the first phase, 250 vehicles have been selected. Vehicles on move with GPS trackers will allow the LMC command and control centre at Zone D office to track them.
The vehicles, against whom there are certain complaints, will be the first ones to get the system. An LMC official stated, “There have been complaints against some employees who, instead of being on duty, remain outside. Through GPS, the officials will be able to keep a check on the movement of vehicles.”
Moreover, LMC started fogging in the city via big machines attached to vehicles to curb the spread dengue. However, there have been complaints regarding improper fogging. It is difficult to keep a tab of all the vehicles, GPS will help officials track them, another LMC official reported.
