Koyambedu depot to have solar power plant soon

CHENNAI: The Chennai Metro Rail Ltd. (CMRL) has commissioned a solar plant at Koyambedu depot with a capacity of 410 KW power. The plant is expected to generate 55,350 units of power a month, which can save up to

Rs15 lakh a year.
Officials from CMRL said that the power generated from solar plants will be used for maintenance work of metro trains and for administrative buildings. With the installation of this new power plant CMRL has a total of 2.1 MW capacity of power generating solar power plants at various locations.
