KOLKATA: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) roads department announced on Tuesday, August 10, that they will be taking up special projects to overcome the damage caused to roads by the recent rainfall. They will be especially focusing on the roads laid with mastic asphalt.

Hazra Road, Alipore Road, Asutosh Mukherjee Road, and Chittaranjan Avenue are amongst the roads that are probably going to need fresh paving. The Eastern Metropolitan Bypass will be going through a major revamp, said a civic official. However, the repair work will only start once the monsoons are over.

The civic body is currently in the process of identifying the stretches that have been badly damaged by the downpour. According to KMC, the amount of rain received in the months of June, July and August terribly damaged the city roads.
