FARIDABAD:  Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) resumed the demolition drive in Khori village after a day’s halt. Officials of MCF imposed a halt on demolitions on Saturday, July 17, to move aside the debris. The drive resumed in Islam Chowk, Bengali Colony, and Church colony on Sunday, July 18.

Garima Mittal, Municipal Commissioner, Faridabad, has to file a compliance report in the Supreme Court which has ordered the demolition of 10,000 houses built illegitimately on Aravali forest land. According to reports, the drive resumed on full-scale on Sunday so as to achieve a maximum number of demolitions of encroachments.  MCF teams on Saturday placed ownership boards in various parts of the village, which reads that the land belongs to the corporation. On June 7, the Supreme Court specified a period of six weeks to get over with the demolitions of all 10,000 illegal houses on the forest land. MCF has devised a policy to shift the villagers in 1800 economically weaker sections flats in Bapu Nagar and Dabua. Notably, a total of 5000 demolitions have been done so far out of which, 2000 were carried out on Sunday. It was claimed that all encroachments will be paved out by the MC soon
