NEW DELHI: The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to Amit Shah, Minister for Home Affairs, Government of India, on Tuesday, February 7, demanding the regularisation of over 4,500 employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Delhi CM said that directions should be issued for speedy approval of the Recruitment Rules of Group ‘C’ posts to regularise Regular Muster Role (RMR) employees at the earliest. He also mentioned that a letter has been sent from NDMC seeking Ministry’s approval for the draft Recruitment Rules for Group ‘C’ posts on September 25, 2020, with prior approval from the NDMC council, granted in a meeting held on August 4, 2020.

He reminded Minister Shah that the civic body has also written a letter to the Home Ministry on May 23, 2022, to answer all the queries raised by the department regarding the matter. Later the council wrote another reminder letter on November 23, 2022, but no action has been taken as yet.

In his latest letter Delhi CM has highlighted that some of the staff comes in the category of “very poor people” and have been working for the civic body for “last 20-25 years”. “Because of them being not regularised, they are facing issues in running households with an ordinary income. So, I appeal that they be regularised on humanitarian grounds.”
