LONDON: Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has announced a new three-tier lockdown system for the country. Under this system, every area will be classified as being on medium (tier 1), high (tier 2) or very high (tier 3) alert. Johnson said that the new categories will simplify and standardize all the different lockdown rules which are already in place.

Areas with lowest rates of infections will be placed under Tier One lockdown and will face the basic national rules. In Tier Two, along with restrictions of Tier One, people will not be allowed to socially interact with whom they do not live and hospitality businesses will be shut after 10 PM. However in both Tier One and Two, people can meet friends and families in a group of six people.

Areas with most rapidly rising cases of coronavirus are placed in Tier Three. In these areas people will not be allowed to meet anyone who is not a part of your household. Social mixing indoors and outdoors will be banned and hospitality businesses will be closed. But people can still visit parks, beaches, countryside or forests in groups of not more than six.
