Jewar Airport: UP approves Rs 1,260 crore for land acquisition

JEWAR: The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a fund of Rs 1,260 crore for acquisition of land for the proposed Greenfield International Airport in Jewar, according to an official document. The amount, released for the first phase of airport construction, is to be spent for land acquisition and payment to the farmers concerned, the document stated.

Officials said that a total of 5,000 hectare land and an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore is required for the development of the proposed airport.

 

The proposed airport will be the second in the NCR after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, is expected to go operational by 2022-23.
