JAMMU: Jammu government’s ‘Back to Village’ program is set to be organised from June 20 to 27. Under the initiative, state administration assigned gazetted officers are set to visit one gram panchayat each for 2 days, in an effort to interact and obtain feedback from panchayat representatives, elders and locals regarding their concerns, developmental needs, and economic potential of their respective residential area.
Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, launched the program with an orientation for the deputed officers on June 19. He sensitised the officers about the objective of the program and the necessary preparations required to be made for its successful implementation.
He said, “The program “Back to Village” will focus on energising Panchayats, collecting feedback on delivery of government programs, capturing specific economic potential and undertaking assessment of needs of the villages besides affording an opportunity to gazetted officers to visit the villages and directly getting a feedback from people.”
The program’s primary objective is to engage the over 7000 villages, 4483 panchayats and direct development efforts in rural areas through community participation and to create in the rural masses an earnest desire for decent standard of living.
Satya Pal Malik, Governor, has also addressed a letter to various administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, asking them to oversee the proper implementation of the program.
