NEW DELHI: IndiGo has entered into a pact with CSIR- Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun. CSIR-IIP will partner with IndiGo in facilitating the deployment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in India and across the globe.
In this partnership, both the institutions will engage in specific arrangements for projects relating to SAF, based on techno-commercial feasibility, environment, and governance. Ahead of this partnership, Indigo desires to be an anchor for further such engagements with other institutions and oil refining companies in the future to address the main issue of carbon emissions. Ronjoy Dutta, whole-time Director & Chief Executive Officer, Indigo asserted that being a responsible airline, IndiGo had always understood the importance of making a leap towards a greener future. With CSIR-IIP, we will conjointly ensure that the work is being done towards containing the emissions and meanwhile building supply chains for manufacturing and deploying sustainable aviation fuel in India.
Dr Anjan Ray, Director, CSIR-IIP also shared the familiar thought of being committed to achieving India’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. They also believe that synergies between IndiGo and CSIR-IIP can enhance national self-reliance as well as strengthen India’s position in the global aviation sector.
