India observes 30% decline in COVID-19 cases in October

NEW DELHI: While the United Nations of America and many other European countries continue to witness an increased rate of coronavirus infections, India has reported its first monthly decline in COVID-19 cases and fatalities since the epidemic began in March this year. The decline was constant since September 2020, which became obvious in October 2020. According to official data, 30 per cent less cases have been registered in October as compared to the previous month.

The number of COVID positive cases in the month of September increased by 6.2 lakhs as compared to the month of August from 20 lakhs to 26.2 lakhs. However, October observed a rapid decrease in the number of reported cases with only 18.3 lakh fresh cases. Decline was also seen in the number of deaths in the country. Approximately, 28,859 deaths were reported in August, which escalated to 33,255 deaths in September. Nevertheless, at 23,500 cases, October recorded a 29 per cent drop in the number of new coronavirus-related deaths compared to the preceding month’s tally.
