Himachal Pradesh Bans Use of Thermocol Plates

Himachal Pradesh: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday 5th, June announced a ban on the use of thermocol plates and glasses in the state. The initiative has been taken into account that thermocol plates and glasses are the major cause of pollution in the state.

The government also banned plastic bottles water bottles less than one-liter capacity and said that steel bottles will be provided to government school students, to minimize the use of plastic. “The initiative will be funded under Mukhiya Mantri Vardi Yojana — free school uniform scheme,” Thakur said.

There is also a proposal to set up 10 solid waste management plants for scientific disposal of waste. He made this announcement in a state-level function to mark the World Environment Day at Sundernagar town in Mandi District.
