Himachal CM inaugurates lift water supply scheme in Shimla

SHIMLA: The lift water supply scheme rom Chaba (Kol Dam) commenced today as Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh inaugurated the Rs 75 crore scheme today. Thakur also laid the foundation stone of the water supply scheme, costing Rs 406-crore, for Shimla from the Sutlej river.

The Shimla Municipal Corporation had already begun the water supply from Chaba to Shimla, but the scheme was officially commenced by the Chief Minister today, on January 3.

Thakur, while addressing the gathering said that the water supply scheme for Shimla from Sutlej would be completed by 2022. The scheme would help provide the city over 67 MLD of water to the town till 2050. The water supply scheme from Chaba (Kol dam) to Shimla would ensure 10 MLD of water to the capital city.

Further the CM also laid the foundation stones of various projects under the Shimla smart city mission costing Rs 32 crore like a multi-storey parking and link road to new OPD, IGMC-Shimla.

Thakur said that the multi-storey parking complex would have a capacity to facilitate over 400 vehicles. The link road to the new OPD Block of the IGMC to contribute in easing out the parking problem at the IGMC. Also, the link would provide a better access from Cart Road to new OPD Block.

Other state ministers and Corporation officials like Mahender Singh Thakur, Irrigation and Public Health Minister; Sarveen Chaudhary, Urban Development Minister; Satya Kaundal, Mayor; Shailender Chauhan, Deputy Mayor; C Paulrasu, Commissioner, MC, Shimla, were present at the occasion.
