CHANDIGARH: Haryana government is planning to provide 3.26 lakh for new water connections, 5.24 lakh for sewage connections along with 29 sewage treatment plants in 20 towns of the state. The decision of the addition of these amenities was taken under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Under the State’s annual drafted action plan of AMRUT, Rs 643.17 crore has been designated for water supply, Rs 1,513.17 crore for sewage and septic management, Rs 375.2 crore for storm water drainage and Rs 34.2 crore for green spaces and parks. A total of 44 projects have been planned for implementation with an estimated cost of Rs 2,354.37 crore. The state has matched the demand with Rs 406.27 crore.
The smart city project sawan annual budget allocation of Rs 100 crore by the central government for several selected states. Two cities of Haryana, Faridabad and Karnalhave been marked for the project. “In Faridabad, 45 projects will be executed with a total cost of Rs 2,552.49 crore. Of which two projects worth Rs 2.6 crore, which includes smart e-toilets and open air gyms, have been completed and 15 projects costing Rs 595.87 crore are under execution, including installation of a treatment plant at the Badkhal lake, setting up a smart urban village at Fatehpur and Santnagar,” said Anand M Sharan, Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department.
