CHANDIGARH: In a bid to switch the current manual sanitation system to the more advanced automated sanitation system, Haryana government will be introducing a special road sweeping machine. A total of 44 state-of-the-art road-sweeping machines, which have been developed in Italy, would be procured by the state government. First of these machines would be introduced in Rewari by Tuesday, September 17. The specialty of the machine is that it can automatically cleanse the soil on the roads along with the soil deposited on the dividers. This move will possibly ensure a reduction in manpower used in the cleansing of roads which could be diverted to other sanitation works of the state.
Each machine would cost the government Rs 1.5 crore. In the first phase of incorporation of the machines, these are set to be put to operation in all 10 municipal corporations and 18 municipal councils across the state. Gurugram and Faridabad would be allotted five sweeping machines each, the other municipal corporations of Sonepat, Rohtak, Panipat, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Panchkula and Hisar would be allocated two truck-mounted sweeping machines each. The respective municipal corporations would be using the machines at night time, in order to avoid traffic inconveniences. Each machine will be GPS-monitored.
