Greater Hyderabad civic body ‘hi-tech’ vision to supervise work progress

In an exercise to monitor day-to-day progress of ongoing works, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters will shortly get equipped with a giant LED screen. The corporation has also decided to install 30 screens incorporated with a camera in all circle and zonal offices and three screens in the offices of the commissioner, mayor and additional commissioner. The set up will have a special mechanism at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore for conducting video conferences. According to the officials, a 10×28 metre screen will be installed on the seventh floor of the GHMC headquarters and the GHMC will also be able to access CCTV footage with the cooperation of the police department. In the addition to that the civic body has also planned to develop a mobile application for its staff so that the higher authorities can interact with them through video conferencing during field operations. Officials said the project will not only save the fuel but also time to respond during emergency situation.
